Scope:

These methods cover the determination of evaporation loss of lubricating greases and oils a sample cup in an evaporation cell is placed in a bath and maintained at temperatures in the range from 210 to 400 °F (99 to 200 °C). Heated air is passed over its surface for 22 hours.

The evaporation loss is calculated from the loss in weight of the sample.
